Alice Gail Spencer, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90 on January 1, 2024 in Longwood, Florida.
She was born December 6, 1933, during the depression era in Chester, PA. She was one of 8 children born of the late William G. Clark and late Ruth L. Clark.
Gail graduated from Media High School in PA and received a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University. Later receiving two master’s degrees – one in Public Health and the other in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies from Immaculata College in PA.
Gail was a life-long advocate for the Hispanic community serving their employment needs for the Department of Labor and Industry for the State of Pennsylvania for over 23 years. Throughout her lifetime she served on numerous Migrant labor boards, worked for the employment rights and relations within the Hispanic communities in PA and helped agricultural employers in the state to conform with laws and regulations. She worked and volunteered in migrant health clinics.
While she loved her work, Gail’s greatest love was her family. She taught them well. She was devoted to their well-being and loved bringing them all together. Her die-hard devotion was instilled in the hearts of all her children and remains today. She is survived by Daughter Lynn A. Bailey, Howard H. Martin, III, Michael W. Spencer and Melissa D. Keller. In addition to her children, she is survived by grandchildren Lyndsey G. Escobar, Natasha E. Bailey, Alyssa K. Bailey, Kelsey D. Bailey, H. Spencer Keller, Lauren R. Keller, Caitlyn J. Keller, Annalyse R. Martin; great grandchildren Andre B. Escobar and Gianna T. Escobar and two siblings Sue A. Grumbine and Barbara J. Tillman.
Gail was preceded in death by her siblings William G. Clark Jr., Marjorie L. Velisek, R. Bruce Clark, R. Byron Clark, David O. Clark; husbands Howard H. Martin, Jr. and John W. Spencer, Jr. and grandchild Liana K. Martin.
