Ann B. Baker: January 22, 1935 - February 18, 2021
Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Ann B. Baker, 86, of Verona, VA, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021 into eternity with her beloved, Lord Jesus. She was born on January 22, 1935, in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Elisha David Russell and the late Lois Russell Ballance.
After marrying Charlie Baker in 1960, she moved to Va. Beach, VA where she owned a beauty salon before moving to Casselberry, FL when her beloved, Charlie, retired from the Navy. He was the light of her life. They shared a love and marriage that lasted sixty years until his passing in 2019.
Ann's love and passion in life were caring for her family and serving others. She worked at Woodlands Elementary School in Longwood, FL as a PE assistant for several years. For fourteen years she worked at Goodings Supermarket as a customer service manager in Maitland, FL. Over the years, Ann and Charlie opened their home and served as foster parents to shelter, love, and care for thirteen children. Upon retirement, she served as a volunteer at the Christian Sharing Center in Longwood, FL She was an active member of Longwood Baptist Church who served on the missions committee. Most important, she loved her Lord Jesus and served Him each day by sharing His love with those around her through her gifts of prayer and service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Baker; infant son, Bobby Stangler; son, Rudy Baker; brother Gene Russell; and her parents, Elisha Russell and Lois Russell Ballance.
Ann leaves two sons: Rick Stangler (Sharon) and Lee Baker (Lisa); three daughters: Pam Huggins, Gloria Baker, Cheryl Baker, and foster daughter, Kathleen Durland; ten grandchildren: Craig Harden (Sonya), Ryan Stangler, Meggan Huggins, LeAnn Smith, Tiffany Ivey (Sam), Tonya Todd (Joey), Jonathan Huggins, Joshua Baker (Lyndsey), Katlyn Baker, Debra Maya Baker; thirteen great-grandchildren: Haleigh Huggins, Cameron Huggins (Meghan), Bruce Harden, Stone Smith, Alexis Smith, Maddie Ivey, Emma Ivey, Hailey Todd, Carter Todd, Alivia Stangler, Taylor Stangler, Blake Stangler, Kaisen Stangler. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at Highland Funeral Home, 3329 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL.; on March 21st at 11am. Due to restrictions in place from the Coronavirus pandemic, all family, friends, & guests will be required to wear a face mask, or facial covering to attend funeral services.
