Christine Bacchus, 96, of Maitland, FL, passed away on November 9, 2023. Born Christine Wiggins on February 24, 1927, in Logan County, Kentucky, Christine had lived in Central Florida since 1961.
Family and faith were the cornerstones of Christine's life. A devoted and loving wife and mother, she had an inner strength rooted in her unwavering faith that guided and sustained her throughout her life. Christine lived her faith by actively serving others, researching and writing about the Bible, and teaching Sunday School for 30 years.
After graduating St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital and was Head of Nursing at Westminster Winter Park. Christine combined her nursing skills with compassion, providing both the care her patients needed and support for their families.
Christine researched her family's ancestry, gardened, sewed, knitted, crocheted, painted landscapes, voraciously read about a wide range of subjects, and took pride in cooking family favorites such as jam cake, carrot cake and squash casserole. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Christine is survived by her children James L. Bacchus and his wife Karen A. Smith, Deborah B. Mulet, Cynthia B. Pitman and her husband Thomas B. Pitman, Teresa B. Ellenburg, and Thomas M. Bacchus and his wife Nancy J. Bacchus, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
