Edgar Steele Sr., 78, beloved Spouse, Son, Brother, Father and Grandfather, was called home by the lord on December 7, 2023. He entered this world on July 1, 1945 in Tyrone, PA, born to Boyd and Marie Steele. He grew up alongside his siblings Tommy, Rick, Tim and Deborah. Edgar met the love of his life, Alice and they were married on August 14th, 1966. They celebrated their 57th anniversary of marriage this past August.
He is survived by his spouse Alice Steele; son Edgar Steele Jr. (Julie); son Stephen Steele (Shannon) and granddaughters Jenna, Ashley, Kayla, Alyssa and Hannah. He is also survived by siblings, extended family and friends who loved him immensely. Edgar obtained a Master of Arts in Education (1975) from University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies (1994) from the Naval War College. Many knew him as "squirrel" during his education. Edgar began his service with the United States Army in 1967. Throughout his military career, notable moments included his service in Vietnam (1969-1970) and the Gulf War (1990-1991). Edgar retired in 1998 as a Colonel.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for charitable donations to be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Edgars memory at t2t.org. A military service in honor of Edgar will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery, time and date are TBD.
