Eric Stewart Queely, 77, was called to his eternal resting place on December 7, 2024. Born on September 18, 1947, on Anguilla Island in the British West Indies to Stanley Queely and Naomi Duncan, Eric lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a passion for nurturing growth. He was the first in his family to come to America in his twenties seeking opportunities for a better future. As a young man Eric was extremely smart and gifted with his hands. He learned quickly when he arrived in Apopka, Fl that speaking Spanish and English would be a huge benefit as an immigrant, so he learned through experience to speak and write fluently without any formal education.
Eric began working with a local Nursery in the fields with orange producers and due to his ability to speak Spanish and English rose through the ranks and became the Nursery Plant Supervisor at Penang Nursery in Apopka, Fl which is still known today as the Indoor Foliage Capital of the world. Eric retired after a 30+ year career as a successful Plant Supervisor at Penang Nursery where he was known for his green thumb and his ability to make anything flourish. His love for plants mirrored his love for his family-growing and nurturing them with care and dedication.
Eric was a passionate basketball fan; he found joy in the game and in the company of loved ones. As his kids grew, they would always discuss the skills of the players and statistics of the game, and his favorite team was Orlando Magic. As kids we can always remember the sound of that strong accent yelling at the referees and the players while the game proceeded to play. He also enjoyed playing dominos with his friends and fixing things with his hands, which is a trait many of his kids inherited and can clearly be seen in their career choices.
Eric was a devoted father to his children, Avery Queely, Erica Queely, Timothy Queely, Jessica Queely, Eric Queely Jr., Stewart Fleming, and his stepchildren Seriah Leonce, Serfancia Starr, and Shaquille Neal. He is also survived by his long-term partner, Yolanda Neal, and a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Jaylen Jones, Jayani Jones, Gavin Queely, Kai Queely, Shamar Fleming, Shiloh Fleming, Beyonce Queely, Ariana Queely, Avrianna Queely, Seriah Queely who will carry on his legacy of love and joy.
