Idalia Machicote Diaz, 86, of Winter Park, FL was called to her eternal resting place on March 26, 2022. Idalia was born on October 3, 1935 in San Turce, Puerto Rico to Carlos and Concepcion Machicote. Mrs. Diaz is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Mariselle Cheever. She is survived by her sons; Jorge Diaz Machicote and Carlos Diaz, her youngest daughter; Ruth Battle, grandson; Jason Cheever, his son; Konnor Rivers, Nathan Cheever, Carli Diaz and his wife Tina Diaz, their daughter Isabella Hope Diaz, and grandson Jaymon Diaz and his wife Christine Abbott.
In early life, she was a pianist and organ player at her Seventh Day Adventist church in Puerto Rico, she was also a part of the church Pathfinder group. She enjoyed making wedding cakes and flower arrangements for weddings and graduations, a talented painter and crafter, she enjoyed making and finishing ceramics, crochet, beading, quilting, making dolls, purses, and decorating them. . She was always happy to teach you everything she knew about any crafting you may be interested in.
A strong and courageous woman, she moved her family with the help of our grandma Conchita, followed by her husband, from Puerto Rico to Florida in the early 70's where her children attended the Seventh Day Adventist schools and enjoyed the family community.
She worked at the Forest Lake Academy laundry, before moving on to the Florida Living Nursing Center and finally was able to enjoy her retirement.
Her ever lasting love and support as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend will stay in our hearts forever. Sporting a sense of humor until the very end, she laughed at the silly things that affect us all as seniors. Our dearly beloved Mom, we will miss you terribly but know that you are resting peacefully until we see you again in Heaven, we love you.
