James P Cooksey Sr.

James Paul Cooksey Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and esteemed member of the community, peacefully passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on August 24, 1938, in Albany, KY. James lived a life filled with dedication to his family and a passion for work in the construction industry, where he served as a Superintendent. He was also known for his love of fishing. 

James will be deeply missed by his daughters Kimberly Pratt and Beverly Nichols; grandchildren, Courtney Lynn, Kerri Lynette, Heather Renee, Jill Anne, Cody-Lee Edward and Christopher Ryan; great grandchildren, Eleanor Lyn, Aubrey Anne, Maura Nicole, Tristan Ray, Sierra Renee, Timothy Finn; brother Fred Cooksey, sister Ruth Mathews, and a host of nieces & nephews whom he cherished more than anything in the world. As a loving father and grandfather, James leaves behind fond memories and a lasting legacy that will be forever remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

A Family Viewing in honor of James Paul Cooksey Sr. will be held at Highland Funeral Home on August 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm, with a Public Viewing following at 5:00 pm on the same day. His Funeral Service will take place at Highland Funeral Home on August 20, 2024, at 12:00 pm, highlighting the impact he made in the lives of many. 

Following the ceremonies, James will be laid to rest at the burial service at 3329 E. Semoran Boulevard in Apopka, FL, on August 20, 2024, at 1:30 pm, where he will find eternal peace. James Paul Cooksey Sr. will forever be remembered for his kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be greatly missed but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace. 

James was preceded in death by: his wife Alvina Cooksey, Willard Cooksey, Mildred Cooksey, Randall Cooksey and Mollie Cooksey.
