Jennie V. Hamlyn, 96, of Orlando, FL died at home on Saturday, March 20, 2021 surrounded by family. Jennie was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent part of her married life in Bellport, Long Island, NY. In 1969 the family moved to Orlando and opened a Carvel ice cream store. Seven years later they would open a sub shop in Longwood, FL.
Jennie had a smile that would light up a room. She never met a stranger. She was tiny ... but mighty! She was known as "Little Jen" or "the Little Lady" which came from her Italian heritage. She had a quick wit and a spirited laugh. Nothing meant more to her than her family and faith in Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roger U. Hamlyn, Jr. She is survived by her children, Christine Edwards, Deltona, FL; Roger Hamlyn, III (Hannah) Sevierville, TN; Lori Hamlyn, Orlando, FL; Lisa Culpepper (Kevin), Orlando, FL.; one grandchild, Elizabeth Hamlyn, Deltona, FL. Along with a multitude of family and friends who loved her dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 13th, 2pm at St. James Catholic Cathedral, 215 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jennie's name can be made to St. James Catholic Cathedral or AdventHealth Hospice Care Central Florida.
