John (Monie) Houchins, 90, passed away April 20, 2024. Born in Petersburg, VA. He was two days shy of being 91, his date of birth was April 22, 1933. He moved to Florida in 1972, opened College Park Restaurant in 1973 and sold it in 1988, he retired shortly thereafter.
He loved fishing and was able to catch a 10-pound bass on April 6, his last day of fishing. The biggest fish he caught weight 13 pounds. John also loved watching his race car compete at New Smyrna Speedway. Vacations were spent on 25 cruises and visits to mountains.
Monie’s survivors are his wife Terri of 43 years, three children: Nancy Turner, William (Judy) Houchins, and David (Dawn) Santo, and his sister: Toni (George) LaPierre; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son Donnie Houchins and brother Richard Houchins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Advent Health Hospice in Altamonte Springs.
