Lionel Prince

May 22, 1928 — October 20, 2024

Lionel was born on Tuesday May 22,1928 to Helena Prince and Joseph Punit in Freeport Trinidad. His siblings are Andrew Prince, Joseph Prince, Wilfred Prince, Maria Modeste and Ivy St. Lewis. They all preceded Lionel in death except Wilfred Prince. On February 4,1951 Lionel married Veronica (Manwaring) Prince. And they were blessed with seven children. The children's names are Lennox (preceded in death), Chris, Merle, Noreene, Deborah, Lester (Malachiyah), and Bernadine (preceded in death). Also, Lionel and Veronica adopted their niece, Charmaine Manwaring.

Veronica entered into eternal rest in heaven on November 2, 2021.

Lionel was often affectionately called Sonny or Soldier by those who know him well.

Lionel was known for his strong will, strength and determination.

Many often referred to Lionel as being such a handsome man with lots of love for his family.

Lionel had a desire to provide the best life for his family and he did this by seeking God's purpose and plan.

Lionel's passion to share stories about his earlier days including world war II stories were fascinating for his children and grandchildren to hear and learn of his experiences and glean from his wisdom. And Lionel shared his joy and knowledge of completing home improvement projects and gardening with his children and grandchildren. Lionel also had a gift of creating jewelry with metals such as silver rings. And most of all Lionel loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and had a passion to teach his family the love of God to make certain we would all be together again when we leave this world and enter into eternity. This can be told by anyone that has ever been blessed to be in Lionel's presence.

Before leaving Trinidad, Lionel served in World War II as a marksman.

Lionel also provided for his family as a machinist.

As an example of Lionel's desire to take care of his family, he purchased a house in St. Mary's village for his wife and children and they lived there until Lionel moved his family to New York, USA and he kept his house in Trinidad as a vacation home and place of remembrance.

Many years ago, Lionel had a vision and decided he needed to move his family to a new land where God was leading him. And so, Lionel and Veronica with their children migrated from Trinidad W.I. to New York, USA in the 1960's.

Within two years of moving to a new land, Lionel worked two jobs and was able to purchase a brownstone house in Brooklyn,New York for his wife and children and later on for his grandchildren, too.

While in New York, Lionel worked for Met Life over 20 years and then retired and moved to Florida. But even with retirement, Lionel decided he wanted to continue helping others. And so, Lionel saw a need to help others while in hospitals and he decided to accept a position at Florida Hospital. But then Lionel saw a greater need in his neighborhood with little students walking on the busy roads going to and from school and he became a school crossing guard.

It's important to know that Lionel attended Brooklyn Tabernacle Church while living in New York and then became a member of Benny Hinn Ministries when he retired and moved to Florida.

Lionel has lived in the realm of time for 96 years and has seen four generations of his descendants. Lionel's descendants are as follows:

Lennox (predeceased) begat Donnette (predeceased) who begat Azaria

Chris begat Sheldon and Connel and Shauna.

Merle begat Edie and Janelle and Josiah.

Noreene begat Jared and Torey and Jamal (predeceased) and Isaiah and Tafarah.

Deborah begat Nikirah and Ishmael and Jalon.

Lester (Malachiyah) begat Ayshirah and Ashanty and Elijah and Ethan and Aaliyah and Hezekiah and Azaryah.

Many of Lionel's grandchildren have begat children and grandchildren. And so, Lionel is a great-great-grandfather.

Lionel is blessed to have witnessed four generations of his descendants.
