Maria Emilia Torres

Maria Emilia Torres, born on November 8, 1941, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Apopka, Florida. She was 83 years old. Maria is remembered for her deep love for her family, her “mother-hen” spirit, and her high-pitched laugh. She worked tirelessly to give her family the best that she could provide, especially her children, to whom she provided a better life than she had. Aside from her family, she was happiest when she was gardening or traveling.

Maria is survived by her beloved son, Hubert Talavera, her cherished daughter, Mariem Talavera, her daughter-in-law Carmen Arroyo, her two grandchildren Xavier Talavera and Gabrielle Talavera, and the grand-dogs Kismet and Kai.

A public viewing will be held on March 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Highland Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 12:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate Maria’s life and share in the memories of a remarkable woman. 

Following the service, Maria will be laid to rest at 3329 E. Semoran Boulevard, Apopka, FL 32703. Her family welcomes all who knew and loved her to attend and honor her legacy.

Maria Emilia Torres will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Maria was preceded in death by her father Celedonio Torres, her mother Candida Torres, her brother Juan Torres, her sister Gladys Torres, and her son-in-law Joe (Joey) Signorino..
