She spent her childhood years in war torn England and was evacuated out of the London area during
the war for her safety. Times were very difficult and food was in short supply and rationed. At 14 she
left school and worked in a typing pool in London. She started her family at a young age and at the
time lived in Wigan, Lancashire. Her husband Terry was stationed in the Royal Air Force. Later they
moved back to Erith where she gave birth to a second child. Shortly before the birth of her third child
they moved into a place of their own in Barnehurst. She was a good baker and sewed a lot in those
early years. Two more children quickly followed. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1969 with their five
children. In the U.S. she enjoyed sewing and crafts. She volunteered in the resale shop for Alexian
Brothers Hospital and loved working there. Close to retirement age they moved to Florida where they
enjoyed fishing and visiting Ft. Myers. At age 80 she suffered a major stroke that left her unable to
communicate. At the time of Terry's death she went to live in an assisted living apartment where the
staff loved her friendly kisses and hugs. During the past year of her life, she suffered greatly after
badly breaking her ankle and would never walk again. Isolation for Covid contributed to her decline.
Her ashes will be interred with her husband at Highland Memory Gardens, Tranquility Mausoleum,
West Interior, Sheet 2, Level C, #14, in Apopka, Florida on March 14, 2022 at 11 a.m.
Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to Halifax Hospice of
Volusia County.
