Willard Laurence Parker Jr., (Bud), 92, of Orlando, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. Born in Orlando, Florida on November 3, 1928, he grew up in Maitland and graduated from Winter Park High School. He then went on to graduate from the University of Florida. (Go Gators) He met Jewell Maxine Elmore in high school and was married to her for 59 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Parker of Oak Hill, son, David Parker (wife Barbara) of Altamonte Springs, parents, Rita and Laurence Parker of Maitland and brother, Stanley Parker of Oak Hill. He is survived by sons, Larry Parker (wife Billie) of Maitland, Steven Parker (wife Rhonda), of Debary, sister Josephine Simmons of Bushnell, brother Don parker of Dade City, sister Frances Dunwoody of Jacksonville and Ann Law (husband John) of St. Simmons Island, Georgia. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Bud was a former Boy Scout Troop Leader in Maitland. He served on the City Council of Maitland for several terms, and was also the mayor of Maitland for several terms.
Bud was the third out of five generations to manage and operate Parker Lumber Company, which operated from 1934 to 2012.
Bud was a founding member of the Maitland Rotary Club, and was also an honorary member of the Maitland Men's Club.
Bud was on the Maitland Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and was the assistant Fire Chief for a period of time.
